School Visits
Did you know that since the Festival began in 2000, nearly 75,000 elementary and high school students have had the chance to meet and interact with Festival authors? Authors visit classrooms and auditoriums every year to read from their works, conduct workshops and inspire students to read, write, perform their works and "see" the power of the written word.
New Brunswick's functional illiteracy rates are 60% and 68% (Anglophone, Francophone respectively) so the impact of this interaction is enormous. As long as illiteracy excludes anyone from access to knowledge and the world of ideas, our whole community is diminished. Thanks to TD Canada Trust, the School Visits program continues to grow every year and positively impact many students.
