Provincial creative writing contest

Provincial poetry and short story writing competition for students from Grade 9 to Grade 12

In each category, a professional jury selects three finalists.

​All finalists receive :

  • a writing workshop with a Frye Festival author
  • publication of your poem or short story online
  • a cash prize awarded during Soirée Frye
  • First place : $ 250
  • Second place : $150
  • Third place : $ 100

The texts will be evaluated based on these criteria :

  • Organisation and style
  • Grammar and punctuation
  • Vocabulary and spelling
  • Quality of content and ideas
  • Presentation and respect of contest instructions
  • 600 to 800 words for the short stories or 150 to 300 words for the poems

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: MARCH 1
