Provincial creative writing contest

The provincial creative writing contest offers youth in grades 9 to 12 a chance to test their writing skills in one of two categories: short story or poetry. Here are the complete contest details in PDF format. 

Participants have a chance to win
  • $250 cash prize
  • a half-day writing workshop with a Festival author
  • publication online and in newspapers
  • invitation to the awards ceremony at Soirée Frye featuring award-winning Festival authors
Inspiration and theme ideas (only if needed): 
  • What if I became Big Brother...? 
  • The (mis)adventures from the September after graduation. 
  • ''The roots of literature are in a specific culture, but its fruits are in a world without boundaries...''

Evaluation criteria: 
  • maximum of 800 words (short story only)
  • style and organization
  • grammar and punctuation
  • vocabulary and spelling
  • quality of content and ideas
  • presentation and adherence to contest instructions 
TO SUBMIT: Texts can be submitted by email to info [at] frye.ca or by mail at P.O. Box 26023, Moncton, NB E1E 4H9 by March 17. In addition to attaching your text, be sure to include:
  • name
  • phone number
  • second phone number
  • school name
  • school grade
  • teacher's name
