Fascinated by the freedom of words, Alain Lessard knew from an early age that a pen in his hand could spark an imagination as fertile as it was inexhaustible.
An author, playwright, producer, screenwriter, and lecturer, he has published 15 works for children, young adults, and adults.
Some of his novels have been taught as part of the curriculum in high schools and CEGEPs and have appeared on bestsellers lists in Quebec.
The year 2015 marked a turning point in his career as he adapted his story book Saint-Parlabas into multimedia theatrical performances for children (Dunort, Océanne). He toured throughout French Canada, and his plays were well-received by audiences and arts presenters alike.
The picture book of the Dunort show was an official selection of Communication-Jeunesse, an association whose mandate is to offer the best in French-language children's literature in Canada. It also received critical acclaim in leading magazines such as Lurelu, LQ and Les libraires. The latter also selected the book as one of the top 100 books to read for an unforgettable summer in 2018.
Alain Lessard has given hundreds of presentations to date. He also founded Pixel d'étoile, a production company that combines digital technology with words and emotions to create fictional worlds. His creations have been seen by hundreds of thousands of people.
