Provincial Creative Writing Contest

Provincial poetry and short story writing competition for students in grades 9 to 12

This contest rewards the best texts in two categories, poetry and short story, and in both English and French. A professional jury selects three finalists in each category and in each language.

The texts are evaluated according to the following criteria:

   • Originality and creativity

   • Style and vocabulary

   • Organization of ideas

   • Effective use of language

The twelve finalists will be highlighted on our web platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and frye.ca). The award ceremony will be part of Prelude, a showcase exclusively dedicated to emerging writers in New Brunswick.

Each prize comes with a bursary:

   • 1st prize: $250

   • 2nd prize: $150

   • 3rd prize: $100

Participating is free and easy!

Send the text (600 to 800 words for short story or 150 to 300 words for poetry) with your name, your grade level, and the name of your school by email to youth.jeunes@frye.ca, no later than March 1.
