Biography
Beth Powning is the author of three memoirs (Home, Shadow Child, Edge Seasons) and three novels (The Hatbox Letters, The Sea Captain’s Wife and A Measure of Light). She has taught memoir-writing workshops for the Writer’s Federation of N.B. in Sackville and Fredericton; The Maritime Writer’s Workshop; and The Great Blue Heron Writer’s Workshop in Antigonish, N.S. Her memoirs have received awards: Home was a New England Bookseller’s Choice, Shadow Child was short-listed for the Edna Staebler Award for literary non-fiction, and Edge Seasons was a Globe and Mail Best Book. She has spoken, read and taught at literary festivals across Canada and in the US, UK and Ireland. She lives in Markhamville, NB.
