The Frye Festival, in partnership with the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick, presents a writing workshop facilitated by Richard Kelly Kemick. Valued at $100 per person, this writing workshop is open to everyone (regular fee: $25 / WFNB members: $15). Places are limited.

 

The workshop will be held online and divided in two sessions of 2 hours each. A Zoom link will be sent to participants in a confirmation email following registration.

  • First session - Sunday, November 29, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Second session - Sunday, December 6, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

The Pillars of Prose

This online writing workshop will elevate your writing by grounding it in the fundamentals of narrative style, structure, and character, ensuring your project is the best possible version of itself. Throughout the class, students will create and edit a piece of work, with the aim of crafting it into publishable quality.

About the facilitator:

Richard Kelly Kemick is an award-winning poet, journalist, and fiction writer. His new nonfiction book, I Am Herod, takes readers backstage and undercover at one of the world’s largest religious events. He is also the author of Caribou Run, a collection of poetry. Having published widely in all three genres, Richard Kelly Kemick’s work has been included in anthologies in Canada and the United Kingdom. He is the recipient of multiple awards including two National Magazine Awards and the Writers’ Guild of Alberta’s 2019 Howard O’Hagan Award for Best Short Story. He lives in Rossland, British Columbia.
