Carole Chan
Chair
Daughter of Taiwanese immigrants to Canada, Carole Chan was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. She studied and worked internationally in the fields of law, diplomacy, arts and culture, education, as well as publishing. As a bilingual lawyer, she works with local businesses and international corporations on complex transactions, strategic planning, corporate governance, and project management. She specializes in regulatory, environmental, Indigenous, privacy, and technology law and has supported various economic development initiatives in Atlantic Canada. Mother of three young children, Carole Chan calls Moncton ‘home’ since 2006. She is passionate about enhancing participatory democracy, sustainable communities, and active living.
Vanessa Moeller
Vice Chair
The first entry about Vanessa Moeller in her mother’s diary reads, “Vanessa wrote on the white wall with a red marker.” She was barely one at the time; it was a portent of things to come. Since then, she has been committed to writing, drawing, literacy, and the arts, and while she does not write on walls (much) anymore, her words do occasionally appear on a billboard or two as part of her work as a Senior Creative Writer for m5 Marketing Communications.Vanessa holds an MA in Creative Writing from the University of New Brunswick. Her first book,Our Extraordinary Monsters, was released by Signature Editions (2009), and her work has received numerous awards including the Atlantic Poetry Prize and an honorable mention in the poetry category of the National Magazine Awards. Her poems and short stories have appeared in numerous periodicals includingThe Fiddlehead,Prism International, and CV2, as well as in anthologies by Guernica Editions, Baseline Press, and Frog Hollow Press.
Madeleine Blanchard

Madeleine spent many hours of her childhood strolling through the stacks of the Moncton library. Her ideal Sunday always begins with a cup of hot tea, often accompanied by a crossword puzzle and a good book, on the corner of her kitchen table.She has been working in communications in New Brunswick for almost 20 years. She assists clients with their communications strategy and media relations, and works with organizations in the literary, film, performing arts and community sectors. Madeleine was fortunate enough to study at the Université de Moncton in information-communication and translation, and to complete a master's degree in communications in Lille, France.
Marie-Ève Godbout-Carroll
Treasurer
Treasurer of the Frye Festival since November 2018, Marie-Eve Godbout Carroll studied administration at the Université de Moncton from 2004 to 2008. She became a Chartered Accountant in 2009, and has been working in the Moncton area ever since. She is currently Assistant Treasurer for the City of Dieppe.
Aline Johanns
Administrator
Aline Johanns is a Certified Human Resources Professional with over 25 years of experience in the field. Trained as a translator and with an MBA from the Université de Moncton, she has worked in the public sector in the province of New Brunswick, primarily in hospitals. She held human resources management positions in several regional hospitals in the province before becoming Vice President of Human Resources at Vitalité Health Network. She also has experience in operational and strategic planning, as well as in the management of various hospital services.
Geneviève Laforge
Administrator
Geneviève joined Assumption Life in 2005 as legal counsel, and was appointed senior legal counsel and corporate secretary in 2009. Since 2019, she has held the position of Corporate Secretary and Director of Organizational Development.Geneviève holds a bachelor's degree in civil law from Université de Sherbrooke and a bachelor's degree in common law from Université de Moncton. She is a member of the Quebec and New Brunswick Bars and holds the Certified Corporate Director designation.She has always been involved in her community and has served on several boards and committees, including the United Way, Hospice of Greater Moncton and the Greater Moncton Chamber of Commerce, of which she was president from 2018 to 2020.
Leslie Tse

Leslie Tse's meandering trajectory led her and her family to Moncton in 2015. An urban planner by training and transportation professional by trade, Leslie is an activeand engaged community member at heart. Professionally, Leslie has worked in emergency management, sustainable transportation and community development sectors in Canada and Australia. She is a passionate advocate for strong local communities and equity for all residents and brings this perspective to her roles.Leslie fondly remembers the reading month chart that her grade 3 teacher had on the classroom wallwhereevery book read merited a gold star, and the mass of gold stars beside her own name. Leslie hopes that one day the towers of unread books by her bedside will turn into a poster full of stars.
Martin Rioux
Administrator
Martin Rioux was born and grew up in Dieppe. Having travelled to study and work, Martin came back home in 2021 and settled in Memramcook, where he lives with his husband and hopes to raise a family. Martin holds a B.A. in political science from the Université Laval (2007), common law and civil law degrees from McGill University (2011) and is a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick (2012). Since 2014, Martin has worked in the labour movement as a lawyer, a negotiator and now as a Pension and Benefits Officer at the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC).
Mischka Jacobs

An action-oriented community builder, Mischka Jacobs believes that it's our stories that both connect and unite us. Our stories have the power to bridge gaps, ignite great feats of philanthropy, spark incredible moments of humanity and cultivate meaningful change in the lives of many. Through her career, she's helped entrepreneurs succeed and tell their stories, launch a provincial helpline supporting over 132,000 New Brunswickers, taught newcomer women French, and currently works with United Way to change lives. She brings her international experience and diverse background in communications, community engagement and resource development to the Frye Festival’s Board of Directors.
